Today SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying a Dragon capsule full of supplies for the International Space Station (ISS). Many people have never seen a rocket launch in person (this writer included) and many never will. The videos we see online are often from good vantage point, somewhere within a 1 mile radius, and often taken with a telephoto lense employed to make the images clearer and magnified.
While this is great and spectacular, if fails to give us a sense of scale and power. To give you a sense of just how loud and powerful these launches are we have obtained an exclusive video of the launch from a resident living a few miles from the launchpad.
We would like to thank Tim Croker for recording this video and sharing it with us.
As you can tell from the video, even at this distance the rocket can be heard as launches and goes supersonic. If its this awesome from that distance, imagine what it must be like up close.
